BlackBerry mengumumkan produk terbaru mereka pada 27 September 2010 dan menamainya dengan PlayBook, yang sebelumnya berupa rumors akan dinamai dengan BlackPad. Gadget pintar ini secara resmi mulai dijual pada 19 April 2011. Ada berbedaan yang sangat jauh antara BlackBerry PlayBook dengan saingannya Apple iPad, yakni ukuran layar dan konsep kerja, gadget ini dirancang untuk pengguna BlackBerry, melalui bridge untuk menjalankan apps yang ada pada smartphone tersebut, multitasking serta dapat menjalankan flash. Terdiri dari tiga varian, PlayBook WiFi 16GB, 32GB dan 64GB. Harga BlackBerry PlayBook juga jauh lebih murah bila dibandingkan dengan iPad.
